Expectations for the NFC West

Finally, we've reached the end of the preview. We're wrapping up our preview with a look at the NFC's toughest division: the NFC West. Housing both NFC Championship participants and the Super Bowl champions, this division is making a run as the toughest division in the NFL. What should all teams expect this season?

  • Arizona Cardinals: Shoot for the Division Title: It's going to be a tall task to win the division, considering the Rams and 49ers reside in the NFC West as well. However, the Cardinals have loaded up again, adding Marquise Brown. Losing DeAndre Hopkins will hurt (suspension for PEDs). However, Arizona looks like a deep team that could make a run at the division or even the Super Bowl.

  • Los Angeles Rams: Run It Back: After winning the Super Bowl last season, the Rams are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions. They've gotten a nice start on that endeavor; they added Bobby Wagner and Allen Robinson to the mix. It'll be a bit harder this time around, with both the 49ers and Cardinals making moves. However, you shouldn't count out the Rams to repeat as the champions.

  • San Francisco 49ers: Avenge Your NFC Championship Loss: A part of why the 49ers lost the NFC Championship last year was because Jimmy Garappolo collapsed in the fourth quarter. Now, it's Trey Lance's time and the organization feels great about their future. Lance has shown that he's great during the preseason, and the team has his back. Now's the time for San Francisco to cash in on the golden opportunity for a Super Bowl.

  • Seattle Seahawks: Stuck in the Cellar: While the rest of the division is competing for a Super Bowl, the Seahawks are in the basement for the first time in a long time. Russell Wilson is gone and Chris Carson retired, leaving the offense much weaker. It'll be a while before Seattle becomes competitive again, so now's the best time to hoard draft picks and build for the future.
